Defination-Polity in india takes place within the framework of a constitution.India is a federal parliamentary democratic republic in which the president of india is head of state and the prime minister of india is the head of government.Nominally,executive power is exercised by the president and is independent of legislature.

Making Of The Constitution
  • According to the Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946,the constituent Assembly was set up in November,1946. 
  • Total no of member in the constituent Assembly Were 389,of which 296 were elected by the members of the Provincial Asssmblies and the rest were nominated by the princely States.

  •  On the 9th December, 1946 the first meeting of the constituent assembly was held.Sachidanand Sinha was elected as its interim President and later Dr.Rajendra Prasad was elected as the President.

  •  13 important committee were format by the constituent assembly for the framing on the constitution.

  • A drafting committee( 6 member +one chairman = 7 members) was appointed under the chairmanship of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
